Robert Smith, Introduction

John S Moore, Land and Power: The Norman Conquest to the laws of Property Acts (1925)

Mike Westcott-Rudd, Senior Corporate Lawyer, HM Land Registry,
Land Registration and the Lord of the Manor: what you must do for successful registration of Manorial Rights.

Martin Hopkins, BBW Solicitors, and Geoffrey Barrett, Blakemores Solicitors, Manors: Do's and don'ts in purchasing Manors, and investigating and exercising Rights.

Edward Cousins. Chief Commons Commissioner and Adjudicator to HM Land Registry, Land Registration Act (2002): Aspects of the new jurisdiction.

Stephen Johnson MA, Historical Research, Mapping of Manors and identification of potential rights.

Jeffrey Littman Barrister, Case Law on Manorial Rights in Minerals, rivers and commons.

Jeremy Ackroyd FRICS, Ackroyd and Harrison Chartered Surveyers, Severed Manorial Minerals: research, collation, investigation, and registration; mineral disputes. Case studies of four manorial clients, wind farms, aerials: the costs and the profits.

Alistair Rennie, Custodian of the Scottish Barony Register, formerly Deputy Keep of the Register of Scotland,Scottish Baronies and the Land Reform Act (Scotland) 2001.

To instruct solicitors to obtain Counsel's Opinion on these matters would cost, we estimate, about £5000.00. The view of the Land Registry Senior Corporate Lawyer and the Chief Commons Commissioner / HM Land Registry Adjudicator, as Crown servants, could not be obtained by Opinion, but their advice is available in this document.

Nor is available in print, we believe, the direct experience of a land agent, on behalf of four estates, in researching and exercising Manorial Rights. This lecture was as much about what not to do (and, otherwise, waste money in needless research) as about what a Lord of the Manor should do to obtain best results, The real and potential profits of his work for his clients in "Severed Manors" (i.e. Manors where the surface land has been sold) are in excess of £1 million and rising. Since the vast majority of purchasers of Manors are buying "Severed Manors", the usefulness of the Proceedings may be appreciated.

The Proceedings of this conference are available in December 2005 at a cost of £250.00.

I would like a copy of the proceedings and enclose my cheque/credit card* details for £250.00 ( Member price: £150.00
